940 Bethel Road, Phenix, VA 23959 DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: The Aspen/Phenix District encompasses an area on the western side of the County and includes the incorporated town of Phenix. Places of interest located in this District are Red Hill (last home and burial place of Patrick Henry), Staunton Hill (The David K. Bruce Estate), Ridgeway Farms, Gravel Hill Plantation, and the Clarkton Bridge. Mr. Hamlet worked to get the first and only Public Boat Landing in Charlotte County which is located on the Staunton River in the Aspen/Phenix district. He also played an important role in renaming the bridge over Cub Creek near Phenix as the Millard B. Rice, Jr. Memorial Bridge. PERSONAL: Born January 18, 1944 in Newport News, Virginia.
